Reported: 1-4 days
Specimen Required: Collect: Lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or serum separator tube. OR amniotic fluid, CSF, tissue, or vesicle fluid.

Specimen Preparation: Separate serum or plasma from cells. Transfer 1 mL serum, plasma, amniotic fluid, CSF, or vesicle fluid to a sterile container. (Min: 0.5 mL)
Tissue:
Transfer to a sterile container and freeze immediately. Also acceptable: Formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissue.


Storage/Transport Temperature: Paraffin Embedded Tissue: Room temperature.
All others
: Frozen.


Remarks: Specimen source required.

Unacceptable Conditions: Bone marrow (refer to Parvovirus B19, by PCR, Bone Marrow (ARUP test code 0060028). Heparinized specimens. Tissue in formalin (not paraffin embedded) or other preservatives. Frozen whole blood. Hemolyzed specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Fresh Tissue: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 6 months
Paraffin Embedded Tissue:
Ambient: Indefinitely; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: Unacceptable
All others:
Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 72 hours; Frozen: 6 months
