Specimen Required: Collect: Actively growing isolate in pure culture.

Specimen Preparation: Transport sealed container with pure culture on agar slant. Place each specimen in individually sealed bag.

Storage/Transport Temperature: Room temperature.

Remarks: Isolate identification and specimen source required.

Unacceptable Conditions: Mixed cultures or non-viable organisms.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: 1 week; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: Unacceptable

Reference Interval:
Susceptible, intermediate, or resistant.
Interpretive Data: Susceptibility testing is performed by CLSI-approved broth microdilution method using custom made MIC panels.
Note: Nonfermenter panel includes testing for Acinetobacter, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, Burkholderia cepacia, Pseudomonas species and other nonfermenting gram negative rods.

An additional handling fee will be billed for all organisms submitted that are not in pure culture as indicated in the specimen requirements.

The following agents will be tested: amikacin, ampicillin/sulbactam, aztreonam, ceftazidime, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, imipenem, levofloxacin, meropenem, minocycline, piperacillin/tazobactam, ticarcillin/clavulanic acid, tobramycin, and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole. Selective reporting by organism and source.
