Wildcards Symbol (*)

The wildcard symbol (*) can be used in place of letters or characters in query words to search for different permutations of a word.

*	Can be in any position in the term and matches any number of characters.

Boolean Parameters

Search terms can be a single word or several words. The search engine automatically inserts and between words if nothing else is specified, so the Boolean term and can be omitted in search terms. For example, searching for tissue assay is the same as searching for tissue AND assay.

Quotes can be used to search for phrases. For example:

"tissue assay "

Words must be present in the specified order with no intervening words

Specimen Required:	Patient Prep: Patient should fast overnight for 12-14 hours. Patient must not consume any alcohol for 24 hours before the specimen is drawn. Collect: Plain red or serum separator tube. Specimen Preparation: Separate serum from cells within 45 minutes of draw. Transfer 0.5 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.15) Storage/Transport Temperature: CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. Remarks: Patient age is required on the test request form. Include information regarding treatment, family history, and tentative diagnosis. Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: 2 months
