The clinical efficacy of the carbapenems has not been established for treating infections caused by Enterobacteriaceae that test as carbapenem susceptible (CLSI M100-S20 MIC breakpoints: ertapenem less than or equal to 2 µg/mL, imipenem less than or equal to 4 µg/mL, and/or meropenem less than or equal to 4 µg/mL) but demonstrate carbapenemase production in vitro.
