High Avidity Double-Stranded DNA (HA dsDNA) Antibody, IgG : 2005526

Mnemonic: HA DSDNA

Methodology: Semi-Quantitative Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay
Performed: Wed
Reported: 1-8 days
Specimen Required: Collect: Serum separator tube.

Specimen Preparation: Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 0.5 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.15 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions: Urine or plasma. Contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, icteric, or severely lipemic specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year (avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles)

Reference Interval:
30 IU/mL or less: Negative
31 IU/mL or greater: Positive
Interpretive Data: High avidity double-stranded DNA (HA dsDNA) IgG antibodies are more specific but less sensitive for the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and are more highly associated with renal involvement (lupus nephritis) than intermediate or low-affinity anti-dsDNA antibodies.
CPT Code(s): 86225
